Txt: art, language, media
October 3, 2015 - June 19, 2016
A multi-media exhibit, Txt: Art, Language, Media investigates the visual impact of varied forms of literacy, from the ABC's to digital poetry and text messaging. The exhibition featured work that explored various forms of text, media, visual elements, and their cumulative influence on society. In many cases, rather than using new technologies, artists chose traditional media such as sculpture and painting or low tech artistic solutions. Txt in the title of the exhibition is used as a designator not just for the messages shared among us, but also for long forms of text that relate to poetry, literature, storytelling, plays, journalism, spoken word, and performance art.
The exhibition was co-curated by Rocio Aranda Alvarado (El Museo) and Lauren Kelley (Sugar Hill Children’s Museum) and featured works by Dahlia Elsayed, Swati Khurana, Andrew Demirjian, Antonia Perez , Hiroshi Kumagai, Hongseon Jang, Iviva Olenick, Leor Grady, Karlos Carcamo, Kenneth Rivero, Vidal Centeno, Vuk Ćosić.
