Artist-in-Residence Natalie Collette Wood
Natalie Collette Wood is a Bronx-based artist whose work is inspired by the cohabitation of natural and urban environments. She earned an MFA from Lehman College and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Solo exhibitions include "Urban Oasis: Nature in Transit" at 53rd/5th Ave. Subway Station (2024), "Buttermilk" at Governors Island (2023), "Splendour" at Freight + Volume Gallery, NY (2019), "Natural Phenomenon" at Andrew Freedman Home, Bronx, NY (2018), and "Nothing Lasts Forever" at the Andrew Freedman Home, Bronx, NY (2016). Wood’s work has been included in exhibitions such as The AIM Biannual at The Bronx Museum of Art, "Ornamenting Crime" at Zürcher Gallery, and "The Hot House" at Kathryn Markel Fine Art in Chelsea. Wood's work has also been featured in Vogue Italia, FLAUNT Magazine, Whitehot Magazine, and The New York Times.
Looking forward to her residency, Natalie shared, “I am excited to expand my practice within the dynamic, intergenerational community at Sugar Hill, and to draw deeply from Harlem’s diverse cultural heritage, spanning fashion, music, and art.”
