NIGHTS AT SUGAR HILL: Art and Social Justice

Founder and Chief Troublemaker in Charge at Cre8tive YouTH*ink, Jerry Otero (aka Mista Oh) will be joining our Associate Director of Education and Community Engagement Jennifer Ifil-Ryan for a lively discussion about youth, art, and social justice! Jerry will briefly introduce Cre8tive YouTH*ink’s “each one, teach one” approach that uses the creative arts as an entry point to engaging hard to reach youth in communities most impacted by negative impact of the war on drugs and mass incarceration. 

Cre8tive YouTH*ink is a multi-disciplinary collective dedicated to the healthy developmental trajectory of the next generation of ethical, critically thinking, and socially engaged youth citizens. it's Art School Without Walls revives the spirit of apprenticeship by pairing young artists with working artists in the making of real works of art. For more info, visit www.cre8tiveyouthink.org.

About Nights at Sugar Hill
Nights at Sugar Hill is a new public program series dedicated to highlighting the history and legacy of the Sugar Hill neighborhood and Northern Manhattan.  Held every first and third Thursday evening of the month, and open to the general public, Nights at Sugar Hill features artist’s talks, performances, and conversations with leading Sugar Hill historians.
