STORY TIME with Harlem Swing Dance Society

We will travel back in time to Sugar Hill's Savoy Ballroom by transforming the Museum's Living Room into a miniature cabaret complete with 1940's inspired costumes.  And after an energetic performance by The Harlem Swing Dance Society all will have the opportunity to shake, hop, slide and experience a golden era in Harlem's history by celebrating the culture of jazz and the brilliance of swing dancing.

About Story Time: Tales on Sugar Hill
Grounded in a curatorial mission to share stories through theater, music, dance and visual art, as well as oral and literary forms, Story Times: Tales on Sugar Hill presents tales, fables, histories and myths that genuinely reflect the diverse ethnic and cultural milieu of our surroundings. Held every second Saturday of each month, each presentation includes a participatory art activity facilitated by teaching artists, so children not only experience other’s stories, but also reflect on what they see and hear, and create and share their own stories.
