Make a Collage Weaving using unconventional upcycled materials. Take a creative journey with Lina Puerta, our Artist in Residence, and learn how art materials can reinforce themselves. 

11am - 3pm Artist-In-Residence Open Studio
Visit our artist-in-residence Lina Puerta at her studio where she will be available to talk about her work and what she is creating.

1pm - 2pm  Story Hour with Flor! 
Join our resident storyteller Flor Bromley for magical stories. You are encouraged to jump, dance & sing and be a part of the story.

2pm - 3pm March On! The Day My Brother Martin Changed the World
Screening of the animated short film in which Martin Luther King, Jr.'s sister presents a personal, stirring account of the remarkable day Dr. King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech and of the man who went on to inspire the nation.

3pm - 4:30pm The Drum Major Instinct
We will celebrate community, our voices, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through art-making, a children’s book reading and inter-generational program exploring oral histories, spoken word, and basic American Sign Language expressions facilitated by Pickney Productions and the Significant Elders.      

Dr. Martin Luther King’s reflective and inspiring sermon The Drum Major Instinct is a clarion call for all times, especially now. Dr. King once said, "If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice… for peace… for righteousness."
