LaKela Brown
LaKela Brown was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the College for Creative Studies in 2005. Brown was awarded a fellowship at Ox-Bow School of Arts in 2005, and attended their professional residency in 2018. In 2019 she was invited by the Art Production Fund to exhibit public art throughout Rockefeller Center. Her work has been collected by the Museum of Fine Art Boston and the Mint Museum. She has been exhibiting professionally since 2005 with participation in several group museum exhibitions including the ICASF and SFMOAD. Brown is represented by 56 Henry in New York, Reyes/Finn in Detroit, and Lars Friedrich in Berlin. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
