Olivia Jia creates psychological self-portraits of the space where different pieces of information and history collide to form her sense of self. To this end, she paints fictional workspaces, desks, documents from archives, and books as metaphors for the mind, while making references to family members and friends, using their portraits to communicate longing and affection.
